Tasmania Skilled Migration Program Update (July 2026)

Tasmania has officially announced its Skilled Migration State Nomination Program allocations for the 2026–27 program year.

2026–27 State Nomination Allocations

Tasmania has been allocated 2,050 nomination places, including:

• Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190): 1,250 places
• Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491): 800 places

Program Reopening

The Tasmania Skilled Migration Program will reopen for new Registrations of Interest (ROI) in the coming weeks. The exact opening date and updated program guidelines will be announced shortly.

Applicants are encouraged to regularly check the Migration Tasmania website for the latest announcements and ensure they understand the updated eligibility requirements before submitting an ROI.

Applications Already Lodged

If you have already lodged a state nomination application and are still waiting for a decision:

• Your application will continue to be assessed under the requirements that were in place when it was submitted.
• If approved, Tasmania will nominate you through SkillSelect.

Important Information for Subclass 491 Applicants

Applicants who have already applied for Subclass 491 nomination cannot automatically be considered for Subclass 190.

If you wish to apply for Subclass 190, you will need to:

• Withdraw your current Subclass 491 nomination application; and
• Submit a new Registration of Interest (ROI) for Subclass 190 after the 2026–27 program officially opens.

Please note that receiving an invitation for Subclass 190 will depend on:

• The number of eligible applicants,
• The level of competition, and
• The availability of nomination places throughout the program year.
